COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio Association of Community College (OACC) issued the following statement about the State of Ohio’s new TechCred program announced today at Cincinnati State Community College.

“What strikes me most about this proposal is its agility, and I applaud Gov. DeWine and Lt. Gov. Husted for understanding the importance of that. Having a workforce with the skills that employers need right now equips them to compete and respond to changing markets. The Administration understands what is state-of-the-art today won’t be tomorrow so businesses need to be able to keep their workers’ skills fresh, which is why industries have been actively developing their own credentialing programs. TechCred embraces this need and reflects a welcome sensitivity by the DeWine Administration to how quickly technology changes and how deeply it is woven into every industry and workplace,” said Jack Hershey, OACC president and CEO.
