COLUMBUS, OH – Katelyn Bowling, a veteran government affairs professional, has been named as the new Senior Director of Government Relations by the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC). In this role, Bowling will lead OACC’s government relations efforts, advocating for policies that support Ohio’s 22 community colleges and that meet the state’s workforce development needs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Katelyn Bowling to our team,” said Avi Zaffini, president and CEO of OACC. “Katelyn’s extensive experience in advocacy and legislative communications brings a strong voice to our organization as we work to support student success and strengthen Ohio’s workforce.”

Bowling, who will assume her new role on December 9, has more than a decade of experience in advocacy, public affairs, and government relations. Most recently, she served as Deputy Director of External Operations at the Ohio Department of Development, where she led a diverse team of professionals across six divisions, including legislative affairs, marketing and communications, and the state’s tourism office. Previously, Bowling served in various advocacy and communications roles at the Ohio Hospital Association, ultimately advancing to Director of Advocacy and Legislative Communications.

“Ohio’s community colleges play a crucial role in providing pathways to rewarding careers and fostering economic development,” Bowling said. “I am excited to join OACC and work with college leaders, legislators, and industry partners to advocate for policies that create educational opportunities for students across the state.”

Bowling, a native of Dayton, earned her bachelor’s degree in strategic communications from Miami University. She and her husband, David, reside in Columbus with their two children.
