Ohio Community Colleges Applaud House Leaders for Strong Workforce and Education Investments
“Ohio’s community colleges extend our deepest gratitude to House Speaker Matt Huffman, House Finance Chair Brian Stewart, and House Workforce and Higher Education Committee Chairman Tom Young for their leadership in advancing a budget proposal that makes strong, strategic investments in our 22 colleges.
These leaders clearly recognize the vital role community colleges play in preparing Ohioans for today’s in-demand careers and in building the skilled workforce our state needs to compete and grow. Their commitment to affordability and workforce readiness sends a powerful message to the 250,000 Ohioans we serve—and to the businesses that depend on our colleges to fuel their talent pipelines.
These are exciting times for Ohio’s community colleges. With expanded degree pathways and close alignment with regional workforce needs, our campuses are now the gateway to many of the new cutting-edge careers being created.
We are extremely grateful for the support of the Ohio House of Representatives and look forward to continuing our work together to create more opportunity for students and drive Ohio’s economic future.” – Avi Zaffini, President and CEO of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges
